Teen Shot by Fort Worth Police due to CVS Robbery
Over this past weekend, a 17-year-old boy was shot by Fort Worth policemen who were at the scene of a robbery at a CVS pharmacy on the morning of October 2, 2010. Police had actually been conducting surveillance of a pharmacy on the 5000 block of Trail Lake Drive on Friday morning due to a string of robberies occurring at particular CVS pharmacies in the surrounding neighborhood. The police officers reported they had seen a Dodge sedan in the parking lot of a CVS store at around 2 a.m. The officers claimed the 2 individuals inside the car had their faces concealed when they proceeded to run into the pharmacy.
Officers then positioned themselves and waited for the two robbers to come out of the store. When the boys exited the pharmacy, the boys were clearly armed and told by police to hit the ground, although they refused to listen to the police when ordered. The 17-year-old boy raised his gun toward the officers, but was struck in the arm by one of the policemen. Police took the other boy, who was revealed as being only 18-years-old, into custody after he ran from the scene. Investigators are working to see if these two boys are to blame for the string of robberies that have been occurring lately at CVS pharmacies. The 17-year-old who was shot by police is hospitalized and being treated for his gun wound.
