A flight nurse and a paramedic died last year in 2008 in a helicopter crash, and a settlement has been reached in which the victims of the family will receive a total of $14 million dollars due to the deaths. The lawsuit was filed against Metro Aviation Inc. who owned the helicopter and the South Texas Emergency Care Foundation. The emergency medical services helicopter crashed and landed at Laguna Madre. Both businesses, Metro Aviation Inc. and South Texas Emergency Care Foundation, were defendants in this matter. The Emergency Care Foundation provides emergency medical attention near and around South Padre Island. The foundation is also a non – profit organization.
