Recall on Women’s Robes due to Fire Hazard

Prior to May of 2009, Blair LLC recalled 162,000 chenille robes after three of the robes had caught on fire and a report of a second-degree burn to an individual was caused because of the robe. After the company’s recall of the chenille robes, many reports came in linking deaths to other Blair LLC manufactured robes. “This prompted a news release in June 2009 to alert consumers of the burn hazard for the chenille robes”. Shortly after the news release concerning the robes went on air, four additional reports were released stating that all four incidents resulted in the death of four elderly individuals whose robes caught on fire. All deaths that involved the chenille robes occurred prior to the notice of the recall.
