“Northern Wind Inc., a Massachusetts seafood processing plant, faces more than $66,000 in OSHA fines. OSHA found the company to be in violation of several safety standards, while investigating the death of a worker who became caught in the industrial ice-making machine. Joseph Teixeira was killed last summer when the ice machine he was inside unexpectedly turned on while performing maintenance on it. In the lawsuit, OSHA claims that the company failed to make sure the machine did not accidentally turn on while an individual could be inside the machine or working on it.
