The well-known social networking website, Facebook, is forming an advisory board that will include five Internet safety institutes to act as an advisory board that would consult with Facebook on issues such as online safety. The organizations that will be apart of this advisory board are Common Sense Media, ConnectSafely, WiredSafety, Childnet International, and the Family Online Institute. Facebook has made arrangements to meet with the board members on a regular basis in order to review the existing safety resources, develop new ideas, and search for guidance on general safety. The first assignment to be tackled will be an overhaul of safety content in Facebook’s help center. Facebook has made a deal with a state attorney general that would enhance efforts to defend the younger members from any and all abuse while on Facebook.
