Company involved in San Marcos Bus Accident has been issued Safety Violations in the past

It has recently been found that a charter bus company involved in an accident on last Friday, had been dealing with several technical problems over the past two years. The bus accident that sent at least 18 people to the hospital happened on Interstate 35 near San Marcos, TX. The recent accident was caused by the bus driver who allegedly was driving the bus off of the road, turned the bus at the last minute, causing the bus to overturn.

According to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, many technical problems were found that should have shut the bus carrier business down.  Mares Bus Line Inc. is located and operated in Dallas Texas by Alberto and Noel Mares.  The company has been issued several violations after undergoing 55 inspections from the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration.  Over the past couple years the bus company has had five violations of unsafe driving, three violations of speeding, two violations of driver fatigue, 81 violations of vehicle maintenance, and two violations of illegal driving due to no commercial driver’s license of one or more bus drivers.

The company has a previous bus accident on their record that injured three individuals.  All of the individuals on the bus of the recent accident had to be taken to the hospital.  Mares Bus Line Inc. was given a rating of satisfactory by the Motor Carrier Safety Administration.
