Barbara Cadam was seriously injured while walking on a sidewalk in Somerset Gardens Townhouse grounds. She tripped over a 7/8-inch sidewalk separation in the complex resulting in 5 surgeries to her hands, wrists. She also suffered from carpal tunnel in her left elbow as well as ulnar verve release. Ms. Cadam claimed the complex management knew about the separation but failed to fix the problem. The defense contended that the separation in the sidewalk was of no grave danger and that Cadam just simply failed to watch where she was walking. Each defendant was found 50 percent liable in this case.
