$15 Million Settlement for a post-Hurricane Katrina Injured Worker

An oil field rigger who had been severely injured in a post-Hurricane Katrina salvage job has settled his claim for $15 million. A salvage pipe that was being lowered onto a barge crushed the 35-year-old worker, leaving him a paraplegic. The trail in the worker’s lawsuit against his employer, Longnecker Properties Inc., and several other companies had been scheduled to start July 18th in a Louisiana state court.
