Federal agents have arrested four people accused of smuggling 131 illegal immigrants which were found in a “stash house” in south Texas.
The immigrants were detained earlier this week after a raid of the house which was located about 8 miles north of the U.S.-Mexico border, ICE spokeswoman Nina Pruneda said. The immigrants were from Mexico and Central America; they were not harmed and did not require medical attention.
Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley, which runs along the southern tip of Texas, claim to have seen the number of “stash houses” double since last year.
